Below in the frequently asked questions, are straight forward answers to how we as a small business operate. For some, our business model works and for others it does not.   • What type of business does Appease Builders operate by?
    We operate as a Handyman service, yet we have a team of licensed contractors that are specialized in specific trades. We have a flexibility that gives us the opportunity to go either way depending on the needs of our customers.
  • Does Appease Builders Co., have Insurance?"
    Yes, we are insured, and you are protected! We will be more than happy to facilitate proof of insurance. We are insured for $1,000,000.00 per occurrence and $2,000,000.00 aggravate. Our customers are a significant part of our business, and their protection is our greatest care. Sample C.O.I. This is one of the most important things to consider when hiring a handyman, contractor or anyone doing ANY work on your property. While most workers have good intentions in doing good work, human error could cause a factor in liability that could be devastating for the homeowner or commercial property. When doing business with someone else, it is crucial to know whether that person is insured or not. Asking this question is very important. If a service worker; such as a gardener, arborist or contractor does not have insurance and causes damage to a homeowner’s property, the homeowner may be on the hook to pay for it. The same is true if an uninsured worker is injured. Hired workers who do not carry insurance tend to be less responsible than those who do, so asking about coverage is also a good way to determine whether someone will be a reliable worker. It is always best to pay a little more for someone who is insured than to take the risk of hiring an uninsured worker. Avoid taking a person’s word if he or she says there is insurance. A verbal confirmation will do no good if the person is injured while being uninsured. Ask the individual to have his or her broker send a certificate of insurance. If the broker sends it via email or fax, then the policy can be verified. In some cases, smaller firms may try to convince homeowners that insurance is not necessary. Avoid falling for this lie, because it is a common trap used by amateurs to convince homeowners to buy services or products that are usually poor quality. In addition to this, damages or inadequate services will have to be compensated for out of pocket due to lack of insurance.
  • Can I expect to save money when using a handyman vs. a contractor?
    Obviously, the money you will save will be dependent on the project. Understanding that most contractors will not take on a project unless it's worth their while... For example, Big Box stores like The Home Depot or Lowe's starts at $850 in labor, so smaller projects would not qualify for an install through them. Contractors work in a similar fashion... as there overhead is tremendous, these costs are applied to the overall bottom line of the project. In most cases, the savings in labor is between 60 to 200 percent. With this said, if a licensed contractor is required for your project, we will let you know.
  • What if my project requires a city permit, can Appease Builders still work my project?"
    Yes! We will work with the city to take out the necessary permits needed for your project. We have contractors in all trades that can satisfy city code and lawful regulations.
  • Are There types of projects that would require a contractor and if so required, can you still service my project?"
    Contractors are determined by each particular project and we can determine each project individually or as a group. There are a lot of variables that would need to be considered and in some cases, there are cities that would require a contractor, where others not. The amount of a perticular would also be a determining factor. Also, a single family home vs. a community structure plays a huge role. We will determine your needs and based on such needs, we will make the correct choices.
  • How can I protect myself as a consumer?
    This is an excellent question! Never pay a handyman or contractor in full until he or she has completed with the project. Use the carrot approach… If they don't have a city license, this may be a good clue to be carful. Always check the license number on CSLB’s website at www.cslb.ca.gov or www.CheckTheLicenseFirst.com to make sure the license is in good standing. Insurance is a huge factor! Always ask for a Certificate of Insurance (C.O.I.). Appease Builders Co., is insured for $1,000,000.00 per incident and $2,000,000.00 aggerget. Don’t pay more than 10 percent or $1,000, whichever is less, as a down payment. There is an exception for about two dozen licensees who carry special bonds to protect consumers. These exceptions are noted on CSLB’s website. Don’t pay in cash, and don’t let payments get ahead of the work. Get at least three bids, check references, and get a written contract. ​ Most importantly, don't work with companies that hide. What I mean to say, is that most contractors or handymen don't have a website, there not networked with social media companies... like Yelp, Porch, Facebook and so on... Appease Builders has made it there business to be in the lime-light... We want to be networked and have partnerships. We're about not just your one project, we want to be part of your family, grow with you and be there for all of your home improvement projects.
  • What is your pricing structure like?
    In short, we are extremely competitive. Our quality of work will supersede your average contractor, but our pricing comes in a bit higher than your average handyman. This is a very difficult question to answer without looking at your project. Do yourself a favor; don’t get quotes over the phone. A quality company will always ask to see your project prior to offering a quote.
  • What type of warranty do you offer?
    Appease Builders warrants on most services and runs 90 to 360 days...depending on the project. Yet our service commitment is to appease our customers. When a project is complete, we always walk the project with our lead project manager to make sure the customer is happy. Yet, still because of the excitement of the project completion, things could be missed, overlooked and later come to light. We are committed to providing excellent customer service. We do not provide warranties on appliances or mechanical products. Yet, these should be covered by a manufacture supplied warranty.
  • What are your forms of payment?
    We accept: Cash, Personal Checks, Cashiers Check or Money Order. We also accept Zelle and credit cards for your conviniance Introducing Zelle.   • Does Appease Builders offer Financing?
    Appease Builders has partnered with specialist to bring our customers financing in the Home Improvement sector.   • How long does it take to get an estimate / quote.
    Depending on the proposed project, an estimate could be generated on the same day of us being there, but no longer then 72 hours.
  • Does Appease Builders offer discounts?
    Senior Discounts: A 10% discount will be applied to ALL seniors 55 years or older. (Senior or significant other must be the person on the invoice). A 10% discount will be applied to ALL AARP members. (AARP members must be the person on the invoice). ​ Military Discounts: ​ A 10% discount will be applied to ALL Military personnel. (Appease Builders has established the 10% Military Discount to extend our sincere thanks to the men and women who have served or are currently serving our country in the US armed forces). To receive a 10% Military Discount, you must: Be currently serving or a veteran of the US armed forces or be the immediate family member of that household. ​ Discounts have no cash value and can not be used with other discounts (in other words, no stacking discounts).
  • What kind of warranty is offered on a new FLAT or Shingled roof?
    We offer a 2, 5 and 10 year warranty of a new flat roof. Check HERE to see how our program works.
  • How does the process work, if I want to remodel my bathroom?"
    First, we schedule a free onsite consultation. Here is where we are able to determine your vision. We will ask you all the right questions to make sure we are able to put together a quote. We will process a quote within 72 hours. The quote will be sent via e-mail, unless you request otherwise. Once the quote is approved, we will convert the estimate into an invoice. We schedule another onsite review. Here we will go over your project again, make any changes that we could have missed and provide a project lead-time. Now we schedule your project start date. We give you the dimensions of the projected tile project, so that you are able to shop for the tile. We do have a wholesaler where you are able to save money and receive the customer service needed or you can shop at your preferred retailer. Don’t worry; we will pick up the tile from the vendor.
  • Does our company offer 24 hour response services?
    No, most trades that offer such services are focused on one trade, such as plumbing or emergency response. Appease Builders, offers home improvement services.
  • What areas do you provide services to?
